CODE4EV at the JSAE Congress

CODE4EV proudly participated in the JSAE Annual Congress, one of the most significant automotive research events in Asia. The congress brought together over 400 presentations across three days, with 12 parallel sessions covering a wide spectrum of topics, from advanced materials and software technologies to combustion engines, electrification, fuel cells, road safety, and emissions. Complemented by two large exhibitions, the event gathered all major players along the automotive value chain and attracted thousands of visitors.

Eric Armengaud had the honour representing the CODE4EV project at the congress. The event provided valuable insights into Japanese and broader Asian automotive research landscapes, especially in key areas such as SDV and AI-defined vehicle technologies.

• Continuous innovation in Asia: Developments in Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) and AI-driven vehicle technologies are rapidly advancing and strongly represented in current innovation pipelines.
• Collaboration as an innovation driver: Cross-team and cross-institutional co-development frameworks, such as those proposed by CODE4EV, are essential to accelerate innovation, enhance efficiency, and reduce time-to-market during both design and runtime phases.
• Strengthening EU, Japan cooperation: Following Japan’s recent eligibility for Horizon Europe, new opportunities are emerging to deepen collaboration between European and Japanese research communities.

The JSAE Annual Congress clearly demonstrates the scale and momentum of global automotive innovation. It also highlights the importance of a stronger European presence to stay connected with worldwide developments and showcase European achievements more prominently.

With Japan now officially eligible for Horizon Europe, CODE4EV looks forward to intensifying cooperation and fostering impactful international partnerships.
