iMERMAID final consortium meeting
As the iMERMAID project approaches its end, we reflected on our work and achievements over the last 3 years with all partners at the seventh consortium meeting in Berlin. Marcela Permann-Doubková participated in the meeting, representing Armengaud Innovate GmbH.
The large consortium that started this project presents as an interconnected family of professionals from fields such as electrochemistry, biology, engineering, social science and economy, determined to further develop and commercialize solutions to prevent the pollution of waters.
Within the Project, technological solutions to monitor and eliminate contaminants of emerging concern (CoEC) in water – such as pesticides, herbicides, Pharmaceutical as well as plastic additives and PFAS – were developed and evaluated at water treatment plants and at industrial effluents. To explain, the CoEC family is expected to pose high risks to the ecosystem and human health while not being yet adequately regulated by law. Further, within the project scope, the development of the digitalization tools enabled easy data handling, sensor’s remote control, and data simulation with help of digital Twins. The Project succeeded also at the level of societal awareness by building a benchmark example of inclusion of societal Action Tools to address the Horizon’s requirements of Societal Awareness level. Finally, the policy briefs, summarizing the project major technologies and findings on ecosystem impact, contributed towards revisions of the directives such Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and Water Framework Directive (WFD).
We at Armengaud Innovate, especially Marcela Permann-Doubková has been supporting the Exploitation paths of the Partners that started at prototype level and led to close-to-industrialization-ready technologies (TRL 6-8). The support ranged from generation and adjustments of value propositions and customer stratification to assessments of go-to-market strategies and business models. Especially toward the end of the project, we supported partners in their Intellectual Property decisions and bilateral agreements, sustaining the project results beyond iMERMAID.
While the project ends, the impact stays and we are looking forward to following the partner’s technological developments as well as progress in mitigating CoEC pollution in water bodies.
