Researchers’ Day – Tobelbad Primary School

On the occasion of the monthly Researchers’ Day at Tobelbad Primary School, Marcela Permann-Doubková and Sabrina Jörgler had the opportunity to experience exactly this. Together with twelve curious children, they immersed themselves in nature and the world of water.

At the beginning, we explored together what we need water for in our everyday lives and where it actually comes from. Some of the children’s discoveries were quite surprising – “What?! We need that much water for this?!” – and it was not so easy to understand that, on the one hand, we pump water to our homes from large reservoirs, and on the other hand, we use drinking water for our entire consumption.

Then it was time for hands-on practice: the pupils were allowed to build their own water filters and find out which materials, in which combinations and quantities, cleaned the water most effectively.
