SmartCorners: The project served as a case study in a general management seminar.
On 13–14 April 2026, our colleague Florian Ratz led the master’s seminar “General Management, Case Studies” at Graz University of Technology. It’s a great honour to see our work contributing to academic learning and inspiring the next generation of professionals. Giving students the opportunity to work on a real-life project and gaining practical insights beyond the classroom makes the experience even more meaningful. Seminars like this are a great opportunity to bridge theory and practice.
A special thank-you goes to Florian Ratz who is also sharing his impressions with us:
This year’s class was fully booked with 20 motivated students, mainly from the master’s programme Software Engineering and Management. The seminar aimed to bridge the theory taught in an earlier, more fundamental course with practical application of selected general management tools or frameworks by using case studies and a hands-on approach.
The first day’s case study focused on the US ridesharing industry and the application of the well-known Business Model Canvas. This setting, together with additional short exercises, led to interesting presentations and engaging discussions among the participants.
On 14 April 2026, the second day of the seminar, the SmartCorners project served as a case study. The students worked with an information bundle from SmartCorners, consisting of public deliverables, publications, and other publicly available information, to apply the Value Proposition Canvas and analyse the industry addressed by the project as well as its macro-environment.
A huge thank-you to the R&I initiative SmartCorners and to the Institute of General Management at Graz University of Technology for making these two seminar days possible.
We are looking forward to sharing more updates – and in the meantime, have a look to our project website.
